Biggest Fireworks Display in History

Want to launch the biggest fireworks display in history? You’ve got your work cut out for you.

According to Guinness, the largest fireworks display consisted of 540,382 fireworks and lasted for one and a half hours in Søgne, Norway, on November 29, 2014. The town, which is home to 10,000 residents, swelled to 15,000 spectators to watch the event, which was held in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian constitution.

The previous record holder was the internationally famous city of Dubai, which set off 479,651 fireworks in six minutes for their New Year’s celebration ringing in 2014.

When you’re designing your fireworks show, keep in mind that size isn’t always everything. “The size of the package doesn’t relate to the size of the effect,” says Ralph Apel, spokesman and former president of the National Council on Fireworks Safety. “You may have a big item that emits only sparks or a small item that can do 20 or 30 effects.”

No matter if you’re going big or going small, Pro Fireworks — the Official Fireworks Store of Michigan — has the best selection of fireworks for your display — from rockets to roman candles, firecrackers to grand finales, we’ve got it all.
